Nissan just announced the all-new 2014 Nissan Versa Note and the Resonance Concept will make their Canadian debuts at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto (CIAS) mid-February.
The Resonance concept was created at Nissan Design America in San Diego, Calif. Nissan said it features an open, airy architecture highlighted by a unique “floating” roof created through the use of the thin, steeply raked A-pillars, large full-length glass panel and flowing D-pillar design.
The all-wheel drive Resonance concept also features a hybrid electric drivetrain that includes Nissan’s proprietary “one-motor, two-clutch” system, which combines a smaller displacement internal combustion gasoline engine with an electric motor/lithium-ion battery and advanced management system.
Nissan said the Resonance concept signals the direction of future Nissan crossovers.
Read in this that the concept gives clues to the look of the next generation of the Murano crossover.
Sharing the spotlight with the Resonance Concept will be a fuel efficient production vehicle, the 2014 Nissan Versa Note.
Nissan said the Versa lineup gets a dramatic new look with the launch of the all-new 2014 Nissan Versa Note.
The second-generation hatchback goes on sale at Nissan’s Canadian dealers in June 2013 with a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $13,348 CAD.
Nissan made sure to mention “that in an era of changing consumer needs and expectations, Versa intends to be at the forefront of the entry-level pack.”
The all-new Versa Note will complement the Versa family, which includes the recently launched Versa Sedan starting at $11,898 CAD.
The Versa Note has its own distinctive look, feel and added hatchback utility.
It carries the Note designation used in other global Nissan markets, as well as the PURE DRIVE badge, designating it as having low CO2 emissions and exceptional fuel efficiency.
The Versa Note will be offered in S, SV and the top-of-the-line SL model. Each is equipped with a 1.6-litre DOHC 4-cylinder engine with dual fuel injection and Twin CVTC (Continuously Variable Timing Control).
The Versa Note S, SV and SL are available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional Nissan Xtronic CVT transmission.
CVT-equipped Versa Note are rated in the US at 40 mpg on the highway.
The Versa Note 4-door hatchback is the fourth of five new models launched by Nissan over 15 months.
