Mark your calendars, Tesla fans, as Oct. 19 is forthwith declared “Supercharging Day” by Tesla Motors.

That is, says the maverick electric car maker offering free access to its fast chargers for its Model S and future models, it will have six locations operational on that date.

The California-based company made this news available via an e-mail to its owners yesterday, noting its installation and testing process is in full swing.

Tesla’s 440-volt Superchargers are able to replenish an 85-kwh battery in the top-line S in around one hour, or give it an additional 150 miles range in about half an hour.

“We've placed Superchargers in convenient locations near fast food, other restaurants, attractions and shopping to make your Model S charge time convenient and enjoyable,” the company said.

Said locations are as follows:

Folsom, Calif.

13000 Folsom Blvd, Folsom, CA 95630

(Folsom Premium Outlets)

Gilroy, Calif.

681 Leavesley Road, Gilroy, CA 95020

(Gilroy Premium Outlet, near Sony)

Tejon Ranch

5602 Dennis McCarthy Dr., Lebec, CA 93243

(Near Yogurtland)

Harris Ranch

24505 W Dorris Ave Coalinga, CA 93210

(Near Harris Ranch Inn and Restaurant)

Barstow, Calif.

2812 Lenwood Rd., Barstow, CA 92311

(Near Country Inn and Suites)

Los Angeles, Calif.

3203 Jack Northrop Ave., Hawthorne, CA 90250

(Near Hawthorne Municipal Airport)

Supercharger 2 yr plan

As you can see, these are all in the home state, but as previously reported, Tesla intends to roll these out centered around actual Model S owners, eventually covering North America.

For owners of Model S and future models outside of California, yesterday Tesla reiterated its intent, saying it is now actively working on plans, and will announce when it has details to share.
